We continue our countdown to next weekend’s Lions Outdoor and Leisure Expo at Port Shepstone Country Club with a look at the Miss Lions pageant.
Girls from the age of three years to 24 years will come from all over the coast and from as far afield as Ballito and Empanageni to compete for the crown in each of the four respective age categories of the second Miss Lions pageant.
The winners’ crowns are absolutely beautiful, the gift bags for all 12 winners are valued at thousands of rands and the sashes are most certainly fit for a queen.
Last year’s winner in the senior category, Brooke Haslam, has done fundraising for the year of her reign as Miss Lions 2013 and will do the handover at this year’s prize giving when she hands over her crown to the new 2014 winner. Since winning the Miss Lions pageant last year, Haslam has gone on to win the Miss Junior South Africa title.
This pageant is a great platform for all models and potential beauty queens to take to the stage and take part in the semi-finals to be given the opportunity to be one of the selected finalists.
The ultimate idea at the end of it is for all girls to meet new friends and have an amazing experience, it actually not about winning, but gaining experience and confidence along the way.
Information for contestants wanting to participate in the event:
Dates: Semi-finals take place on Saturday (24 May) at 9am at the Port Shepstone Country Club in the entertainment tent.
