Swimmers from Blue Ocean Aquatics Swim Club clinched medals at the KwaZulu-Natal Speedo Provincial Championship held at Kings Park recently.
These championships were for swimmers who’d qualified at Level Three and higher levels of swimming such as junior national, youth national and senior national swimmers.
Blue Ocean Aquatics had 11 swimmers achieve Level Three and higher qualifying times and compete at the championships. These swimmers achieved great times, reached finals and won medals.
Daniel Fisher won a gold medal in the 50m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m and 200m breaststroke respectively.
Jethro Rolfe scooped a silver medal in the 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m breaststroke.
Milla Drakopoulos and Marnu Koekemoer made finals in all their events – a great achievement due to the fact that they swam in the 12-13 year old age group and both of them are only 12 years old.
Gemma Allchin placed fourth in all three of her breaststroke events and Daena Robinson, Amber Vorster, Carla Kretzschmar, Keytin Vorster and Michelle Kretzschmar all made a swim or two for finals.
“Well done to all the swimmers on achieving such great results; your hard work paid off,” said coach Mandy Koegelenberg.
“We look forward to what we can achieve for nationals and regionals in March 2019 and look forward to the last section on the competitive season.
“If there are any people looking for professional swimming coaching, you can contact me on 083 562 3711 for your swimming requirements,” she added.
