NSRI Shelly Beach responded to two incidents on Tuesday.
Gary Wolmerans, NSRI Shelly Beach duty controller, said in a statement: “On Tuesday, 27th December, NSRI Shelly Beach assisted at the backline of the surf off-shore of Shelly Beach to transfer 10 male crew off the boat Lucky Sands that had suffered motor mechanical failure.
“The 10 crew were transferred onto the sea rescue craft Spirit of Dawn and brought to shore in relays.
“At the same time 2 females suffering motion sickness on the boat Sea Freaks were transferred onto the sea rescue craft Spirit of Dawn and brought safely ashore after asking to be assisted while NSRI were busy with the boat Lucky Sands.
“The casualty boat suffering motor mechanical failure was brought to shore without incident accompanied by our NSRI Shelly Beach station commander Jeremiah Jackson.”
