International sensation set to drift up a storm at Dezzi Raceway

Monster Energy driver, Luke Woodham (UK), will add international flavour to Round Five of the SupaDrift Series, which takes place at Dezzi South Coast Raceway this weekend.

Woodham arrives on African shores to not only launch Gymkhana GRiD during the week – an international event featuring global drivers like Ken Block, and taking place at Carnival City, a Sun International property in Boksburg, in November – but then puts his hand up to do battle at the Oslo Beach track.

Woodham is the undisputed Gymkhana Grid RWD Champion, celebrating titles in 2014, 2015, and 2016! Whilst he has to wait to do battle at Gymkhana GRiD, he certainly keeps busy drifting, having climbed onto the podium many times in the British Drift Championship in 2016 and 2017.

“SupaDrift will be a notch in the belt and I cant wait to go door-to-door against the South African drifters; I’ve seen them in action and will do my best in the loaned car…its going to be a wild ride,” stated Woodham confidently.

As the penultimate race of the season rolls closer, drivers will be looking to fine-tune their smoke-churning steeds and get their international competitive game faces on.

Dezzi Raceway is a fast and furious raceway, especially when it comes to drifting and ultimate rear-wheel drive action.

Running the hilly track in reverse; what the drivers refer to as the ‘corkscrew’ certainly makes for top-notch entertainment, and when International drivers are in the mix, crowds and fans are in for a tyre-slaying treat.

Series points leader, Jim McFarlane, driving his Achilles Tyres sponsored V8 Nissan, is certain there will be fierce competition.

“Drivers are always going to be pushing the limits and come for you when you are on top, but I expect nothing less from the local and international challengers,” he said.

Local drivers like Puren trio Brendan, Gavin and Trevor will also have the opportunity to qualify for Gymkhana GRiD in the ‘drum-dash’ competition, which takes place during the lunch hour in the day’s schedule.

Drivers will get a feel for the track during practice on Friday from 12 noon, with Saturday’s action getting underway at 9am.
