Karateka turn up the heat at Ugu Winter Champs – photo gallery

WKF Ugu Karate held another successful Winter Championship at Port Shepstone Secondary School recently.

Sensei Ahmed Ghoor, Chief Referee for Karate Kwa Zulu Natal, travelled down with referees and judges to oversee this tournament.

Only karateka affiliated to WKF Ugu Karate Region, Karate KwaZulu-Natal and Karate South Africa were eligible to participate.

Ages ranged from five years to 17 years with all belts (white to black belt) participating in unison kata, kata and kumite.

“This tournament reflected the joint commitment of WKF Ugu Karate Region-affiliated dojos promoting karate on the Hibiscus Coast,” said WKF Ugu Karate chairman Coenie Vrey.

“A sincere thank you to all Kyoshis, Shihans, Senseis ,Sempais and parents who assisted to make this such a successful event again,” he added.

A WKF Ugu Karate Region Development team will be selected. Those selected will receive WKF Ugu Development colours and compete at the Karate KwaZulu-Natal All Styles Development tournament to be held in Tongaat in August.
