Shelly Beach Lions Club recently held their last meeting of 2018 in true celebration of their Lion and Lady Lion Members’ dedication to supporting and making a difference to their communities, schools and projects during 2018.
The Shelly Beach Lions were delighted to induct veteran Lion President Mark Brauteseth for the 2018-2019 Lionistic Year, as well as new members to the Club Lion Barry Smit, and Lion Johann Bentley. They thanked Past Council Chairman Paul Brauteseth for conducting the induction ceremony and their fellow Lions and Lady Lions congratulated all.
It was a night of honouring their dedication, and the Lion of the Year award went to the late Brad Visser, who sadly passed away in July, for his outstanding commitment, mentorship of others, and driving force within the club, not only during 2018, but also for the last 10 years.
Lady Lion Lindy Visser accepted the award on his behalf, and it was an even more emotional moment, when she was honoured with a Louis Halse Award for her support, kindness and love she has always given to the club over the many years.
This was followed by the Lion President bestowing further 2017-2018 awards to Lion Charles Taylor for stirring the club into action all year round, Lion Ismael De Pinho and Celeste Brauteseth for outstanding financial execution for the club and Lion Johann Bentley for always getting such excellent PR and Publicity for the club.
Shelly Beach Lions President Mark Brauteseth, said “I am very proud of the achievements and accomplishment my team of Lions has performed during 2018, which included diabetes testing and awareness, food collection for families in need, and the hard work of fundraising such as Dezzi’s over many weekends, which allows us to contribute to the many community project request that need our ongoing support.
“We look forward to going into 2019 with even more Lionistic spirit, and to all that have supported us, we give great thanks and appreciation. May everyone have a successful 2019,” he emphasised.
