Blake Gutzeit (Yamaha) and Kyle Flanagan (Sherco) started the Maxxis SuperEnduro World Championship with a bang in Krakow, Poland on Saturday.
Both finished on the Junior Class podium after three thrilling heats.
Paddock rider Flanagan couldn’t have hoped for a better start to his SuperEnduro career as he announced himself with a win in his debut race.
Slipping to eighth in race two, he rebounded to third in the final heat to secure the third step of the podium.
Oslo Beach rider Gutzeit had to block out being landed on by another rider and finishing sixth in the opening race to place second in the second and win the third and final race and claim the runner-up result.
Chile’s Benjamin Herrera (TM) secured the overall victory while also winning race two, with Great Britain’s William Hoare (KTM) and Gethin Humphreys (Husqvarna) completing the top five.
The 2016/17 Maxxis SuperEnduro World Championship continues with round two in Riesa, Germany on January 7.
