Ray Nkonyeni Municipal manager Max Mbili informed the council at its monthly meeting on Tuesday that the negotiations with Airlink regarding a service between Oliver Tambo International airport and Margate, had reached an advanced stage.

Mr. Mbili stated that a memorandum of understanding should be signed soon, pending clarification of certain points raised by the airline. But, he said, all indications are that Airlink would begin its flights to and from Margate on 1 April.

CemAir’s flights to and from Margate airport ceased weeks ago following the grounding of the airline by the South African Civil Aviation Authority.
