UGU WATER SERVICES UPDATE: 24 APRIL 2019
The two-day heavy rains has caused extensive damage to some of our water and sanitation systems predominently in area North and South of the distict. Our technicians were on site at first light to conduct rapid assessments on all our water and satation systems and action corrective measures.
AREAS SOUTH WEST:
The Weza and KwaNyuswa 1 plants remain closed this morning after ysterday’s floods which have caused inability to pump.
The River is still very high and Weza will remain aclosed until river subsides. Please note that water supply in the following areas will be affected: KwaJali, Khwezi, KwaMachi and Mtimude.
Under kwaNyuswa 1: Supply in the following areas will be affected: Thuthuka up to Cleaveview
UKUSEBENZA EZINDAWENI ZASEMAKHAYA:
Abasebenzi baphumile ukuhlola isimo semigwaqo namhlanje emumva kwezimvula ebezinamandla. Lokhu kuzobe sekuveza ukuthi uMasipala ozokwazi yini ukuqhubeka nohlelo olujwayelekile lokuphakela amakhasimende amanzi ngama loli.
Abahlali bayagqugquzelwa ukuthi basebenzise amanzi emvula ukuze bakwazi ukuba namanzi abazowasebenzisa ngesikhathi ama loli engasebenzi.
Kutholakale ipayipi eliqhumile basebenzi bayahlola umonakalo kuleli payipi ukuze baqale umsebenzi wokulilungisa ngokushesha.

Wonke amantilivo angaphansi koMthwalume aphansi ngenxa yezinkinga ze plant. Abasebenzi baphezu kwawo umsebenzi wokuqinisekisa ukuthi ukusebenza kwe plant kubuyela esimweni maduzane. Ngenxa yalezi zinkinga, lezi zindawo ezilandelayo zinokuphazamiseka kokuphakelwa kwamanzi: Umthwalume wonke nezindawo ezingaphansi kwawo, Nomakhanzana Ifafa, Elysium, Bazley, Esbanini kanye nase Mnamfu.

The Scottburgh WWTW has a few components that have flooded. Work is being done on the ground to ensure the pump station is back in full operation Also manholes have overflowed in Scottburgh, Park Rynie and Umzinto. An assessment is being done and corrective measures are being undertaken.
Operations have been disrupted on a number of pump stations as a result of the floods. The following pumps stations have been affected: Margate 3A, Uvongo, Port Shepstone Borough Grounds,, Umbango, Ramsgate 4A and Mellvile Pump Station.
Uvongo and Umbango pump station have been affected by the illegal storm water ingress.
Our supply networks are currently not stable and water supply is currently affected in the following areas: Ramsgate South, Nositha, Margate Ext 3 will have low water pressure and Kaisers, Izingolweni, Nodalane and surrounding areas.
Technicians are conducting rapid assessments today and working towards resumption of normal operations and reinstatement of water supply in all affected areas.
All reported burst pipes will be attended to by our technicinas.
The Municipality asks for customer patience while around the clock work is being done to ensure that all water and sanitation systems are brough back onlline.
