Citizens of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality are urged to continue to be on alert as the persistent rainfall will be continuing throughout the day. Please avoid crossing water logged bridges, unclear and suspicious ravines.

FROM UGU DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY:

WATER SERVICES UPDATE: 23 APRIL 2019

WATER SERVICES:
All Ugu customers across the district are hereby notified that due to the current heavy rainfalls, the water and sanitation services in some areas have been disrupted. Most breaks which have led to supply interruptions in some areas will not be accessible to technicians, especially those in rivers and streams. Customers are therefore advised that technicians will only be able to attend to such breaks once the heavy rains subside. Relief supply will be provided to those areas which are accessible by water tankers.

PS: The Municipality is experiencing abstraction challenges from the supply sources due to these rains. However, the Municipality will try its level best to keep up supply. Customer patience and understanding in this regard will be highly appreciated.

NO WATER AREAS:
Marburg, Merlewood, Mganka, Nositha, Bhobhoyi, Msikaba, Betania and Gamalakhe (Ireland, 4Rooms and Vela Shazi Road).

SANITATION SERVICES:
Most sewer pump stations are being flooded now due to water ingress which has therefore affected the both the mechanical and electrical components of the pump stations.
The Municipality will be keeping a close eye on the sanitation operations. The Municipality urges customers to refrain from directing their stormwater to our sewer systems as this overload has negative effects on our systems.

UKUSEBENZA EZINDAWENI ZASEMAKHAYA:
Umasipala wazisa wonke amakhasimende asezindaweni zasemakhaya eziphakelwa amanzi ngamaloli ukuthi ngenxa yezimvula ezinamandla, angeke uwalethe amanzi kulezi zinsuku. Imigwaqo inethelwe kakhulu ngakho ke amaloli amanzi angeke akwazi ukuhamba kulemigwaqo enethelwe.

Abahlali bayagqugquzelwa ukuthi bakhongozele amannzi emvula ukuze bakwazi ukuba namanzi abazowasebenzisa ngesikhathi ama loli engasebenzi.

Customers are urged to be exercise precaution during this time. And in a case of emergencies, customers are urged to contact their local disaster offices for assistance.
