Local rider to live out passion in South Coast EnduroX

Local rider Piwe Zulu will line-up in the South Coast EnduroX at Margate Fishing Pier on Sunday.

The country’s best enduro, motocross, trials and fun riders will get crowds revved up on at the South Coast Bike Fest #SCBF2017, which will culminate with the first round of the epic Powasol EnduroX Series.

KTM Durban will be sponsoring a bike and kit for Zulu, who hails from the Gamalakhe Township outside of Port Shepstone.

“My love for motorbikes started when I bought an off-road magazine,” recalled Zulu who notes his signature move as the ‘pop wheelie’. “By 2011, I had bought my first bike.”

Although he has only been riding for six years, Zulu has competed in the Matat2Pont as well as the South Coast Xtreme Enduro and the Powasol Enduro Cross in Pietermaritzburg.

“I love to be on the bike, especially for the technical sections and uphills,” he said. “I’m looking forward to the variety of motorcycles, incredible Powasol EnduroX track and spectators on the day.

“I’m so grateful to Powasol Xtreme Events and KTM Durban for the sponsorship and wouldn’t have made it this far without support from friends and family.”

Calvin Brophy, dealer principal at KTM Durban, said festivals such as #SCBF2017 allow people to come together and share their love of motorcycles.

“These days everyone is so busy with no time on their hands to do the things they love. Festivals give people the chance to engage with the sport and hobby they love. Everywhere I have travelled on a bike, whenever I get there I am greeted warmly and people want to hear about my travels.

“I have never had the same experience when travelling by car. So many people love motorcycles, and festivals like this just allow them to engage with the brands they are loyal to. KTM is more than a brand, it is a lifestyle.”
