Scheepers’ A ‘game’ lands him R10 000 in Hibberdene fishing competition

Jacque Scheepers is R10 000 richer after the Mtwalume angler won the Hibberdene Ski-Boat Club Game Fish competition at the weekend.

A total of 26 boats and 63 anglers entered the competition, which enjoyed perfect weather on both days before the swell picked up and the westerly came up at about mid-morning on Sunday.

Scheepers caught an 18.55kg couta and was awarded the big cash prize during the prize-giving held at the Hibberdene Ski-Boat Lapa.

Runner-up Gideon Potgieter won a R5 000 cash prize with a couta of 16.15kg, while third-placed Matthew Defilippi won two standard chromodeck garage doors valued at R4500 for his 15.40kg couta.

Piet Kruger finished fourth with a Tuna of 15.30kg.

A group of youngsters participated in their own kiddies competition in the river on Sunday morning.

Nya Botha won the two top prizes with catches of 130mm and 90mm, Braygen Massey (85mm) placed third; Nya won a third prize for fourth place (75mm) and Storm Pienaar (70mm) placed fifth.

Cassidy, Thomas and Ben Massey also took part in the kiddies competition.
